Luis Seabra made quite the name for himself while he was making wine for Dirk Niepoort at his eponymously named winery. Since striking out on his own his star has been rising rapidly and he’s come to be known as part of the vanguard that’s ushered in a new era in Douro. Intense, age-worthy, terroir-driven wines that are stark expressions of the soil are his calling card and we’re thrilled to be showing two of them. The Branco is a white blend based on the Rabigato grape and it has the lemon-mineral punch of great Burgundy, plus a ripe pear fruitiness, white poppy, and remarkable density. This is sleek, contemporary white winemaking of the highest order. This has got to be the closest expression to Chablis outside of Burgundy.
